Robert J. "Bob" Afflerbach, 91, Morgantown

Robert J. "Bob" Afflerbach, 91, passed away Feb. 6, 2013, at Morgantown Health Care-Inn surrounded by loving and caring friends and staff. Bob had been an active resident at the facility for ten years. He was a former resident of Franklin.

Bob was born Sept. 3, 1921 in Morgan County to the late John Ray and Dora (Gregg) Afflerbach.

He is survived by his sister, Kay Massey of Martinsville and her children; a nephew, Jerry (Tonya) Massey of Indianapolis; and two nieces, Karen Massey of Indianapolis and Kathy (Kenny) Haste of Martinsville. Bobby is also survived by a nephew, Kerry Afflerbach of Indianapolis; caregivers, Glenda Clark and Bill Meredith, both of Morgantown; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Afflerbach of Indianapolis.

Bob was preceded in death by a brother, John Afflerbach; and his godparents, Harold and Rosemary Marshall.

Bob retired in 1986 as a loyal and respected employee of Royal Food Products in Indianapolis after 39 years of service. He was a past board member of the Morgantown Senior Center, where he also drove the senior van for many years. Bob enjoyed his time sitting on the front porch of the Morgantown Health Care-Inn waving and talking to those who knew him. He was a great friend and will be greatly missed by many. Bob had a kind and giving heart and was always there to help others in need. When able, he enjoyed visiting with his friends at the Waffle & Steak restaurant in Franklin. He also enjoyed spending time with his late dog, “Julie”.

Bob greatly appreciated the love and care he received from the staff of Morgantown Health Care-Inn and Vista Care Hospice. He considered them his family.

The Rev. Eddie Law will conduct a funeral service 11 a.m. on Monday Feb.11 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10 at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery, Morgantown. Everyone who has known Bob or waved to him on the front porch is encouraged to come by and pay their respects.

Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Bob to the Morgan County Humane Society, 690 W. Mitchell Ave., Martinsville, IN 46151.
