Karen (Grant) O'Hara, Nashville

Karen Lee (Grant) O’Hara of Nashville passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at 9:34 p.m.

Born to Harold Ulysses Grant and Elizabeth Helen Carrel in DeKalb, Ill., Karen grew up in Indianapolis, graduating from Broad Ripple High School in 1961 and then earning a medical assistant degree from Ivy Tech.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Wayne, of Nashville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Craig Alan and Ma Anne of Muncie and Dennis Patrick of Nashville. She is also survived by a brother, Charles, of Indianapolis; and too-many-to-name in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews scattered across the country.

Karen loved running the Camp Store at Brown County State Park for eight years and said other than her family, it was the most rewarding period in her life. She continued working in local shops until her passing. She also loved her pets over the years, especially her current granddog, "Sonny," and would spoil them as if they were her children.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be conducted at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North, Nashville, Saturday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m., followed by a buffet at the Seasons Lodge and Conference Center.

No flowers, please. Donations can be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the Brown County Humane Society.

Online condolences can be made at www.bondmitchellfuneralhome.com.
