Anthony M. Query, 86, Columbus

Anthony M. Query, 86, Columbus, died at 3:25 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mr. Query retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1987 where he had worked for 371/2 years. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church, Diesel Workers Union, Moose Lodge, and American Legion.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m, Wednesday Feb. 6 at Sandy Hook United Methodist Church, 1610 Taylor Road, Columbus, with Pastor Jeff Karnes officiating.

Family and friends can call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street, Columbus, and from 9 a.m. until time of the service Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society or Sandy Hook United Methodist Church.

Born in Columbus on Feb. 8, 1926, son of the late Burnard L. and Marie E. Apfel Query, he married Reva Sue Wasson on March 5, 1951; she preceded him in death on Aug. 23, 1999.

Survivors include his children, Marsha (Charles) Placke of Brown County and Bruce (Sherry) Query of Columbus; brother, Louis Query of Valparaiso; half brother, James Query of Metropolis, Ill.; half sisters, Linda Bunker of Valparaiso and Anna Johnson of Lake Station; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; half brother, Chester Query; and half sisters, Dorothy and Patty.
