Dorothy Marie Cobbs, 86, North Vernon

Dorothy Marie Cobbs, 86, of North Vernon, died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.

Mrs. Cobbs was born May 21, 1926 in Jennings County, daughter of William Arman and Hazel M. Wilds Haines.  She married Lowell N. Cobbs on May 9, 1946 in Uniontown. He survives.
Mrs. Cobbs worked for the former Regal Rugs for 11 years, retiring in 1991 and had previously worked for the former Arvin’s, both in North Vernon. She was a 1945 graduate of Hayden High School in Hayden. She was a member of North Vernon Lions Club and the Army’s N.C.O. Wives Club. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, flowers, traveling around Europe especially drives through the countryside.

She is survived by her husband, Lowell; her daughter, Diana (James) Jackle of Huntingburg; a brother, Joseph Haines of Morgantown; and a sister, Mary L. (Lawrence) Abell of Scipio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Patrick H. and Michael L. Cobbs; a brother, William Haines; and a sister, Margaret Schneck.

A funeral service was conducted Monday Dec. 10, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Ed. Mead officiating. Calling was Sunday Dec. 9. Burial took place at Vernon Cemetery.
