Steve Buttz then scored a 5-2 decision victory over Cameron Jarrett to tie the match at 12-12, and after Indian Creek 195-pounder Austin Wethington put together a 15-0 win over Brysten Dial, the Eagles didn’t lose another match.

Girls basketball
The Brown County girls basketball team gained momentum for their season, as they handily defeated Eastern Greene 56-32 Tuesday night.
Brown County was led by 6-foot junior Whitney Williamson, who dominated the rebounding and scored 19 points. Williamson was seemingly involved in every play on the floor, adding three blocked shots to her performance.
“Whitney helps solidify us,” Brown County coach Mike Harmon said. “She makes plays. Her and Sasha (Robinson) pick up loose balls and get rebounds and putbacks. They’re our pillars under the basket.”
The 6-foot Robinson, the lone senior on the Eagle roster, added 10 points and played aggressive defense that led to several points off of turnovers.
Brown County point guard Rebecca Wedan scored four points, but the junior’s primary contribution was setting up the offense and helping to get the ball into Williamson’s and Robinson’s hands. She was aided by 5-8 sophomore guard Tanner Chapman, who scored six points and helped Wedan run the offense.
Junior Sarah Southerland also contributed 10 points to Brown County’s victory.
This was an important win for the Eagles as they go into Saturday’s game against conference rival Sullivan.
“This game was a big task for us, and it gave us important momentum and confidence going into Saturday’s key game,” Harmon said.
