Margaret (Beaver) Norman, 89, Morgantown

Margaret L. (Beaver) Norman, 89, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, Nov. 16, 2012, at The Waters of Martinsville.  She was a resident of Morgantown.

Margaret was born June 12, 1923, in Duncanville, Ill., to Ernest LeRoy and Sarah (Simpson) Beaver. She was a 1941 graduate of Helmsburg High School in Brown County.

Margaret retired in 1983 as an assembly worker for RCA in Bloomington after 25 years of service. After retirement, she was very active as a volunteer at the Clothes Closet and worked at the senior center, both of Morgantown.

She was a lifelong member of the Morgantown Baptist Church, Morgantown Senior Center and the Gardening Club of Morgantown. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, quilting and crocheting and traveling with the senior center. Margaret also enjoyed working word search puzzles and was an avid reader. She was known as the “fudge queen” of Morgan County. Margaret was famous for her fudge and won several awards and recognition for her candy.

She is survived by her loving children, Barbara L. Dell of Ft. Worth, Texas, Stephen M. Norman and Kenneth A. (Jacqueline) Norman, both of Martinsville, and James (Teri) C. Norman of Troy, Ohio. Margaret will be remembered by her two siblings, Sara Barnes of Cloverdale and Ernest (Toady) Beaver of Midwest City, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Bradley; and four brothers, Marion, Bob, Eugene and Charles Beaver.

The Revs. Myron Young and Ben Swopes will conduct a funeral service 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends can call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
