Oklahoma band practicing on BCHS field this morning
Updated on: 11.08.12

Six tour buses and a semi rolled into the Brown County High School parking lot this morning. And through the heavy fog, folks in downtown Nashville might have heard music drifting from the football field.

Two hundred twenty high school marching band students from Edmond Memorial High School in Edmond, Okla., are using the BCHS field to stretch their legs this morning before competing in Indianapolis.

BCHS Band Director Evan Cooper said he knows that school's band director, and when he had trouble finding a place to set up and practice, Cooper suggested Brown County.

The Oklahoma band is participating in the Bands of America Grand National Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium today through Saturday.

Many of BCHS' 90 marching band students will be able to observe the large, experienced band on the field, which Cooper said is a great opportunity for his group. BCHS' marching band just started competing this school year.

The Oklahoma band is scheduled to perform Indianapolis at 10:30 p.m. today.
