Martha (Darling) Eastwood, 87, Nashville

Martha L. (Darling) Eastwood, 87, passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 6, 2012, at her home in the beautiful hills of Nashville.

She was born Feb. 11, 1925, in Lafayette to the late James R. and Nancy E. (Cox) Darling. Martha married William H. Eastwood Dec. 2, 1944, in Lafayette. He survives after 67 loving years.

Martha was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother to nine children, June Hutchison of Bloomington, JoAnn Clephane of Morgantown, Patricia Huffman of Martinsville, Leota Hudson of Franklin, William M. Eastwood of Crossville, Tenn., Robert E. Eastwood of Anderson, Wesley S. Eastwood of Columbus, David B. and Michael A. Eastwood of Nashville. She will be remembered by her 38 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marjorie Smith and Dorothy Morinski; and seven brothers, Charles “Dick” Gallagher, Ralph L. Bernard, and David, William, James and John Darling.

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Martinsville and enjoyed working in her flower gardens and watching and feeding the birds.

A gathering to celebrate Martha’s life will be conducted Sunday, Nov. 11 from 1-3 p.m. at her residence, 5434 Three Notch Rd. in Nashville.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
