Albertha Dena Brand, 90, Nashville

Albertha Dena Brand, 90, Nashville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Brown County Health & Living Community.

She was born Nov. 3, 1922, in Indianapolis to the late August and Catherine Albertha (DeKruff) Harkema. Albertha was a homemaker and a former cook at the Nashville House and Sprunica Elementary School. Her memberships included St. Agnes Catholic Church and Hickory Ridge Senior Citizens Club. Albertha loved making quilts and painting. She won many ribbons at the Brown County 4-H Fair for her work.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday Nov. 8, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1008 McClary Road, Nashville, with Father Eric Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. Calling will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 7, at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville.

Mrs. Brand is survived by children, Sharon R. Kirts of Fishers, Phyllis Jo Kirts of Spearsville, Terrance L. Brand of Edmonton, Ky., Jennifer A. Brand of Indianapolis, Michael D. Brand of Greenwood and John P. Brand of Nashville; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; a brother; and her husband, George Brand, Aug.25, 1986.
