Roy Edward Brand, 65, Brown County

Roy Edward Brand, 65, passed away peacefully Friday morning, Nov. 2, 2012 at his residence in Brown County.

He was born May 22, 1947, in Indianapolis to the late Edward C. and Barbara (Hinton) Brand. Roy served his country as a specialist 5 with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Beverly Jo (Leveque) on July 19, 1969 in Indianapolis. She preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2002, after 33 devoted years. Roy was employed as a tool and die machinist with Clique Tool and Machine in Indianapolis for the past 40 years. He loved the outdoors, bass fishing and deer hunting. He was a member of the Hoosier Open and Hoosier Open Senior fishing clubs in Kokomo and was also a member of Indian Creek Shooting Center in Georgetown. Roy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, caring for his dog “Sammy” and was a fan of NASCAR.

Roy is survived by three daughters, Tracy Lynn (husband, Mike) Shirley of Morgantown, Wendy (husband, Scott) Elkins of Franklin and Christy Jean (husband, Jason) Lane of Nineveh. He will be remembered by his siblings, Susie Davis of Edinburgh, Denise (Dan) Boulay of Delaware, Dale Brand of Indianapolis, David (Bernice) Brand of Columbus and Eddie (wife, Sara) Brand of Fortville; seven grandchildren, Kenneth, Amber and Eddie Patrick, Jeanie Brand, Hailey and  Franklin Lane and Brittany Elkins; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Gabby.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother, Jeffrey Brand.

The Rev. Steve Agal will conduct a funeral service at 7 p.m. Monday eve, Nov. 5, at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends can call from 5 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be conducted at noon Tuesday Nov. 6, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Greenwood with military rites presented by Greenwood Honor Guard.
