Margaret L. (Hensley) Sichting, 93, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, Oct. 27, 2012, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a resident of Martinsville and former resident of Morgantown.
Margaret was a lifelong resident of Morgan County, born Sept. 18, 1919, in Green Township to Homer and Viva (Bailey) Hensley. She married Chester John Sichting Aug. 5, 1936, in Martinsville. He preceded her in death July 21, 1977 after 41 loving years.
Margaret retired in 1975 as a key punch operator with the American States Insurance Company in Indianapolis after 15 years of service. She was very active in Morgantown Order of the Eastern Star, the Red Hat Club and Martinsville and Nineveh senior centers. Margaret enjoyed all crafts, especially oil and rock painting and quilting. She was a fan of the Indiana Pacers and enjoyed playing cards.
The most important thing in her life was her dedication to her children and their families. She will be greatly missed by her children, Barbara (Bob) Brummett and Thomas (Libby) Sichting, both of Martinsville, Roger (Brenda) Sichting of Morgantown, Anthea (Philip) Arnold of Trafalgar, and Tony (Tina) Sichting of Nineveh. Margaret will be remembered by her 21 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 16 stepgreat-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and several great-great-great-grandchildren. Also remembering her will be her daughter-in-law, Kitty Sichting.
Margaret was preceded in death by two sons, Merrill and Teddy Sichting; a brother, Marvin Hensley; daughter-in-law, Sherry Sichting; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Rev. Brett Baird will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends were to call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the funeral home. An Order of Eastern Star Memorial Service was to be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Margaret will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Greenwood.
