Susan C. Glasson died Oct. 15, 2012, at the home of her Mother, Mary E. Glasson, in Columbus, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was 49 years old.
Susan was born Jan. 9, 1963, in Columbus, the daughter of Donald L. Glasson and Mary (Whittington) Glasson. A precocious child with an artistic bent, she won a grand championship ribbon at the county fair for a crayon drawing she created at age five. It was the beginning of a long and productive career in the arts although she transitioned early from visual arts to music, composing songs by age seven.
In the 1990s with the Internet taking off, she founded Indie-Music.com with her partner, Paul Bultman, to assist musicians beginning or advancing their careers. Working under the name Suzanne Glass, she was an early pioneer in the field who built her business step by step over the years as the web evolved. She taught herself new technologies as she identified them and saw what they could do for her and for her clients. She was an acknowledged expert in her field who shared her expertise through appearances in a documentary and conferences in Europe and throughout the U.S.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Glasson; her devoted stepfather, Richard Glasson; a brother, Nick; and her grandparents, Hazel and Duke Whittington and Charles and Grace Glasson.
She is survived by her companion, Paul Bultman of Columbus; her mother, Mary E. Glasson, and a brother, John, both of Columbus; a sister, Patty Glasson, and brother-in-law, Mike Moody, of Lafayette; her niece, Maya Glasson Smith, Maya's husband Aaron Smith, and great-nephew, River Smith, of Brown County; aunts and uncles, Maxine and Cecil Jackson and Charles Whittington of Columbus and Elsie Hege of Hope; and several cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Sunday Oct. 21, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street, Columbus, with Rev. Dennis McCarty officiating. Family and friends can call from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday. Inurnment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery at a later date.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbus.
Online condolences can be sent to the Glasson family at www.barkesweaverglick.com.
