William “Bill” G. Lane, 65, Bloomington, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012. He was born Dec. 21, 1946, in Indianapolis, the son of Margaret Lane and the late George Lane.

Bill was a member of Bloomington First Church of the Nazarene. He was a Vietnam Navy veteran. He was part owner of Bloomington Valley Nursery East and later was a funeral director at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary and Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home from 1992-2011. He volunteered at IU Bloomington Hospital, the Bloomington Exchange Club, and he was a Gideon at the Bloomington Camp. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Rosann Lane; his four children, Natalie Earley of Lafayette, Jason Burris and his wife Carrie of Ellettsville, Stacy Lane Stoddard and her husband Brad of Tallahassee, Fla., and the Rev. Douglas Lane and his wife Morgan of Georgetown; his mother, Margaret Lane of Indianapolis; his brother, Richard Lane and his wife Rosalee of Wilmington, Ohio; his sister, Vicky Lane and Kay Buehrer of Indianapolis; and six grandchildren, Cammy, Michael, Ashley, Mailey, Addison, and soon-to-come, Derek Lane.

A funeral to celebrate his life will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15 at Bloomington First Church of the Nazarene, officiated by Dr. James R. Hicks. Interment will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel.
