William “Bill” Alexander Riley, 84, Greenwood

William “Bill” Alexander Riley, 84, of Greenwood died on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012.

He was born in Decatur, Ill., a son of Alexander and Sylvia Belle (Love) Riley. He married Mary Ann (Gray) Riley on Aug. 25, 1951, in Danville, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his wife; beloved son, William Alan Riley; a brother, Robert; and two sisters, Bethel Garner and Marjorie Riley.

Survivors include a son, Bob Riley (Jami) of Stilesville; a daughter Debbie Ann Weber (Jerry) of Nineveh; a daughter-in-law Terry Soilleux; three sisters, Francis Farrell, Anna Mae Rade, Sylvia Belle Morgan; 10 grandchildren, Carmen, Aaron, Tony, Nikki, Jarrod, Ozy, Quincy, Simon, Lily and Shanna; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Bill served in the United States Navy. He worked for General Motors, Allison Division, for more than 36 years and retired in 1987. He was a member of New Beginnings Community Church. Bill was a devoted husband and father and was loved by many nieces and nephews, which he dearly loved in return. He was a man who saw good in everyone and was always ready to help anyone in need. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him and loved him.

A funeral service was conducted Tuesday Oct. 2, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel. Visitation was Monday Oct. 1 at the funeral home. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
