As of 6:50 p.m., the intersection of state roads 135 South and 46 is closed because of a serious, head-on crash involving a motorcycle. A Lifeline helicopter is en route.

7:23 p.m. UPDATE: A Martinsville man has been flown to Methodist Hospital and a woman taken by ambulance to another hospital after a crash involving two cars and a motorcycle on State Road 135 South.

Don Jones of Martinsville was riding a motorcycle with a sidecar southbound on State Road 135 South at the first curve, just past the humane society, when the bike was struck by a vehicle, said his grandson, Chris Forler of Indianapolis. Forler and a companion were riding a Harley in front of Jones, who had a female passenger in the sidecar.

Forler said he was rounding the curve when he saw two cars, a white four-door and a black car, try to pass him on double yellow in the curve. "I knew they were going to hit him," he said about his grandpa.

Standing in the middle of the road, with traffic backed up on the winding highway, Forler and his female companion watched as a medical helicopter whirred in the grassy lot next to the humane society for several minutes. "Get him there! Get him there!" Forler urged the medical crew.

He didn't know the name of the woman in Jones' sidecar. Forler said she had just started dating his grandpa.

Brown County sheriff's deputies who were helping direct traffic didn't know the extent of Jones' injuries or his companion's.

The road had reopened by about 7:15 p.m.
