Johnny Asher, 90, Columbus, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2012. He was born Jan. 1, 1922 in Hyden, Ky., the son of the late Boyd and Hattie Asher.
Johnny was a World War II Army veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bluegrass music, the Colts, sharing his military stories and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Johnny is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Steve) Miller of Nashville; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Drucilla Asher; his son, William Muncy Jr.; and his daughter, Geneva Mercer.
A funeral to celebrate his life will be conducted at noon Tuesday, Sept. 18 at Bond Mitchell Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor David Hayes. Honor guard services will be presented by the Brown County Honor Guard after services at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. The family will receive friends Monday, Sept. 17 from 5-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until noon.
