Effie Marie Hoover, 93, Nashville

Effie Marie Hoover, 93, of East State Road 46, Nashville, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 at 8:40 a.m. at her home.

Marie was born in Bartholomew County Oct. 20, 1918 to the late Ed and Rosa Schultz McKinney. She married Henry J. Hoover Dec. 24, 1938, who preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1973. Marie owned and operated Hoover's Grocery Store in Brown County. She was formerly employed at Ayr-Way in Columbus and Bloomington. Marie was also formerly employed as the deputy county clerk in Brown County. She was a member of North Salem United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 18 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Reverend Daryl Gressel officiating.

Family and friends can call from 3-8 p.m. Monday Sept. 17 at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or to the American Heart Association.

Survivors include her son, Leroy (Kathy) Hoover of Tennessee; daughter, Delilah (Richard) Ogle of Columbus; son, David (Sue) Hoover of Columbus; daughters, Rebecca (Pete) Graham of North Vernon, Leah (Verel) Jackson of Nashville, Martha Ness of Columbus, Mary (David) Sharpe of Taylorsville and Jean (George) Frazee of Elizabethtown; brother Robert Mckinney of Columbus; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren; step great-grandchildren; and step great-great-grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Bertha Davidson.
