Pumpkins and Puppies art and adoption event this weekend at gallery
Updated on: 09.06.12

Organizers of the seventh annual Pumpkins and Puppies event at the Brown County Art Gallery are hoping to find homes for puppies and paintings this weekend.

The event will take place Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8 and 9. Activities are sponsored by the nonprofit Brown County Art Gallery Foundation, the Brown County Humane Society and members of the Gallery Artists Association.

Visitors will find a special exhibit and sale of animal and fall paintings in the South Gallery created for the event by Gallery Artists Association artists. Part of the proceeds will go to the shelter. In addition, the humane society will conduct an adoption fair at the gallery with hopes of finding homes for needy pets.

A piece by association artist Cynthia Leavesley will be offered to the highest bidder in a silent auction under way now at the Brown County Art Gallery. It is an 18x24 pastel and is framed, called “Foggy Morning in the Pasture, Brown County, In.” The entire auction price will go to the shelter. Bids can be placed by calling the gallery at 988-4609, or in person.

The “Pumpkins and Puppies” painting collection will remain on sale at the Brown County Art Gallery until the second week of October with part of the proceeds going to the shelter.

In addition to this event, the art gallery foundation also will offer early Brown County art in a consignment sale, including works by C. Curry Bohm and Anthony Buchta.

All events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours for the weekend are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.

The Brown County Art Gallery is at the corner of Main Street and Artist Drive.
