John Kennard will not be presenting his comparison of a proposed septic ordinance for Brown County to the state code at the commissioners meeting tonight, as previously announced.

Kennard, a county commissioner who is also the environmental health specialist supervisor for the Brown County Health Department, said a special meeting would be the appropriate venue for the presentation, which he expects to be lengthy.

Ongoing debate surrounding the proposed septic ordinance caused Commissioner Mary Fouch to ask Kennard to create a presentation in an attempt to clarify what issues the new ordinance would address and how the local proposed law differs from the state code governing septic installations and failures.

A date has not been announced for the special meeting. Commissioners must give the public at least a 48-hour notice prior to conducting an open meeting. That timeframe excludes weekends and holidays.

The meeting time and date will be announced on the Brown County Democrat’s website, its Facebook page and in the print edition if timing allows.
