Dallas Norman Kelp, 77, Columbus, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 in Columbus. He was born Oct. 6, 1934, in Brown County to Max and Iva (Dowell) Kelp. They preceded him in death.
Dallas was a graduate of Nashville High School and served in the U. S. Army from 1955 to 1957. Dallas married Marilyn E. Schuh on June 28, 1957, in Manitowoc, Wisc. She preceded him in death Nov. 21, 1975. He married Barbara Helen (McDonald) Brown Dec. 31, 1977. She survives. Dallas was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and a previous member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1008 McClary Road, Nashville, with Fr. Clem Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military rites provided by the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, Sept. 5 from 4-8 p.m. at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home.
Dallas was the loving father of Ann J. Johnson of Florida, Andrew Kelp of Ellettsville, Dallas A. “Dak” (Pam) Kelp and Kris Kelp, both of Nashville, and was stepfather to Tammy (Kevin) Roberts, Tim (Sherri) Brown and Teresa A. (Gina) Brown, all of Nashville. Dallas had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Dallas is also survived by brothers Don, Jim, Jerry and John Kelp, all of Nashville; sisters, Maxine Hedrick of Nashville, Mary Smale of Bedford and Judie Schroeder of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Alan Kelp, in infancy.
