None of Brown County’s gas stations received fuel that BP later recalled, according to BP’s website.

But stations in Bloomington, Bartholomew County and other surrounding counties did sell the fuel. They include:

Bloomington BP stations:

• 4405 E. Third St.
• 7340 N. Wayport Road
• 2510 S. Leonard Springs Road
• 527 E. Third St.
• 503 W. Kirkwood Ave.
• and Sam’s Club, 3205 State Road 45 West;

Bartholomew County stations:

• Sam’s Club, east of Interstate 65 on Merchant Mile Road
• BP at Jonathan Moore Pike and Two Mile House Road
• BP near the Edinburgh outlet mall, off U.S. 31 south of Driftwood Avenue.

BP has determined that the problem was in premium and mid-grade gasoline, said Vicki Payne, owner of the Nashville BP.

The recalled gas can cause the "check engine" light to come on.

Typical repair bills for draining the fuel tank and cleaning the fuel system are $300 to $1,200, The Chicago Tribune reported.

BP has fixed the problem at its Whiting refinery and is sending new gasoline to the stations, the company said.
