Pauline Kay Slater, 74, of Brown County, passed away at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Hospice of South Central in Columbus.

She was born on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1937, in Warren, the daughter of Paul and Edna (Meese) Boxell.

Pauline graduated from Warren High School in 1955. She married John Slater on Oct. 4, 1975, in Huntington; and he survives. She had worked at E Systems for the Defense Department for 14 years, retiring in 1999. She was loved and will be forever missed by her family, who were blessed to have her in their lives.

Survivors include her husband, John E. Slater of Morgantown; six sons, Neal Brown of Atlanta, Ga., David (Helen) Brown of Alice Springs, Australia, Robert and David Slater, Jonathan and Thomas Hosler; a daughter, Theresa Disbro; two sisters, Norma Van Camp of Keystone and Lola Kight of Roanoke; a brother, Phillip (Susie) Boxell of Wells County; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Boxell and Edna (Meese) Boxell.

Family and friends gathered to share and remember her on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Glancy — H. Brown & Son Funeral Home, Warren. A service to celebrate Pauline’s life was Aug. 22 at the funeral home, with pastor Mark Davis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th St., Columbus, IN 47201.
