Eagles shoot season-best

CLAYTON — Brown County carded a season-best 263 but finished behind Monrovia (199) and South Putnam (204) Wednesday at Deer Creek.

Mary Kate McCann and Mattie Lucas each shot 63 to lead the Eagles. Josie Gray added a 67 and Sharon Walters had a 70.

CROSS-COUNTRY

Brown County boys win

The Brown County boys finished first and the girls were third in a quad meet Tuesday. The boys finished with 31 points to 44 for Northview and 55 for Shakamak, while theNorthview girls won with 33 to 36 for the Eagles and 53 for Owen Valley.

Alden Westcott led the boys with a second-place finish in 18 minutes, 15 seconds. Connor Guingrich took fifth in 19:03, while Zach Rouch was seventh (19:15), Robbie Dolph II eighth (19:25) and Chris Norman ninth (19:44).

Rose Guingrich won the girls race in 21:12. Madison Morris finished seventh in 24:06, while Corissa Proctor took 11th (25:53), Jalynn Stafford 12th (26:05) and Sam Francis 16th (27:41).

BOYS TENNIS

BC tops Trinity

SEYMOUR — Brown County won four matches in straight sets Wednesday to claim a 4-1 win over Trinity Lutheran.

Duncan Ricci edged Henry Welker 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, Shane Franklin downed Aaron Bloch 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, Bryce Fish and Evan Rose beat Job Willman and Stone Riddle 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Nate Miller and Brady Rose topped Jack Lucas and Andrew Rodriquez 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Trinity’s win came at No. 3 singles, where Chaz Mathis downed Dakota Patterson 3-6, 6-4, (10-6).
