Margaret M. (Smyth) Brown, 92, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 21, 2012 at Morgantown Health Care-Inn. She was a life-long resident of Morgantown.

Margaret was born Oct. 7, 1919 in Morgantown to the late Frank H. & Christina (Loutt) Smyth. She married Ralph L. Brown Nov. 6, 1937 in Morgan County.  He preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1958. Margaret was a 1937 graduate of Morgantown High School.

She was a loving mother & homemaker and worked as a cook at many local restaurants in Morgantown, including Green Hill Drive Inn and the Silver Stallion. Margaret also worked as a cook for Indiana University men’s fraternity Delta Tau Delta in Bloomington during the 1970s.

She was a member of Morgantown United Methodist Church and enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing bingo and watching soap operas. Margaret loved cooking for and spending time with her family.   

Margaret is survived by her daughter. Janet K. (husband, Gary) Wilkerson of Brown County; five grandchildren, Stephanie Warthan of Bloomington, Mike Brown of Edinburgh, Scott (wife, Michelle) Brown of Columbus, Debbie (husband, Mark) Sipes of Elizabethtown and Faith Brown of Georgia. She will be remembered by her seven great-grandchildren, Casey and Hunter Warthan, David and Jeff Sipes, Brandon, McKenzie and Samantha Brown; two great-great-grandchildren, Emily Sipes and Devin Brown.

Margaret was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Brown; a sister, Catherine Brown; and an infant brother, Robert Smyth.

Family friend, Delbert Dunning will conduct a graveside service 11 am Thursday, Aug. 23 at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
