Opal I. Atkins Haggadone, 80, Columbus, died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Mrs. Haggadone worked in the utilities department at Dolly Madison for 20 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of 25th Street Church of Christ in Columbus; volunteered at the Clothes Closet; and enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and taking care of everyone else.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street in Columbus with Brace Rutlege officiating. Calling was Tuesday evening. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Cemetery.

Born in Clay County, Tenn., March 15, 1932, Mrs. Haggadone was the daughter of John Henry and Mae Likens Cross. She married Willie Atkins in March 1955. He preceded her in death in 1999. She married Earl Haggadone Sept. 15, 2001. He survives.
Other survivors include sons, Larry (Candie) Atkins of Seymour, Mark (Vickie) Atkins of Nashville, Gary (Nancy) Atkins of Columbus, Lonnie (Kathryn) Atkins of Hollis, Maine, and Anthony Atkins of Buckston, Maine; a daughter, Patty (Bill) Cash of Columbus; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Wanda (James) Pickett of Columbus, Glenda (Paul) Holtzslider of Columbus, Vonda Woods of Franklin and Linda Jolly of Seymour; and a brother, Robert (Wanda) Cross of Seymour.
She was preceded in death by her first husband; a grandson, Douglas Airsmith; and brothers, Paul, Alvin and Dennis Cross.
