Robert D. Wray, 81, Columbus, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at 2:45 p. m. at Silver Oaks Health Campus of Columbus.
He was born April 20, 1931, in Bedford to Ralph Kenneth and Bessie Louise Robinson Wray. He married Yvonne (Hedge) Wray Sept. 29, 1950, in Bedford.
Wray had worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring in 1987 in inspection. He was an ordained minister and had pastored at Hoosier Hills Baptist Church of Columbus, Fellowship Baptist of Mt. Auburn and Sprunica Baptist Church in Brown County. He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church, where he taught the Forever Young Bible class.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Duane (Debbie) Wray of Indianapolis and Kenneth (Patricia) Wray of Franklin; daughter, Mary Beth (Thomas) Heim of Columbus; sister, Suella Martin of Williams; brothers, Eddie (Tammy) Wray and Joe (Jill) Wray of Bedford and Delbert (Kim) Wray of Salem; grandchildren, Dale Wray of Bloomington, Bryan, Aaron and Amanda (Cory Mahon) Wray, all of Indianapolis, and Melissa Wray of Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Daniel Wray.
The funeral was to be conducted Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. by Dr. William E. Bailey at Parkside Baptist Church in Columbus. Calling hours were Monday in Myers-Reed Chapel in Columbus and were to continue one hour before service at the church Tuesday. Burial is to be in Garland Brook Cemetery.
