Kathy Jo Orem, 60, of Columbus, died at 5:08 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2012, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Kathy worked in retail management and at the Fashion Shop. Most recently she worked at Willow Crossing Health & Rehabilitation Center.

She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her hobbies included sewing, working puzzles, flower gardening and bird watching.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street, Columbus, with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Family and friends can call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Columbus, April 23, 1952, Mrs. Orem was the daughter of Lawrence C. and Betty L. Frazee Powell. She married Michael J. Orem June 8, 1993.

Survivors include her husband; children, Kim Garrett of Columbus and Robert (Megan) Lucas of Nashville; grandchildren, Britney Stephens, Cody Watts, Mady Garrett, Tucker Tower, Garrett and Dylan Lucas; a great-grandchild, Noah Thompson; a sister, Candy (Steve) Zink of Columbus; a brother, Jim Powell of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Orem was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Terri Britton.
