Marked trees in town will start coming down next week
Updated on: 05.31.12

Stinson Tree Service will begin cutting trees marked for removal in downtown Nashville Monday, June 4.

Many of the 11 trees, marked with yellow caution tape, were flagged as being in need of critical care or routine pruning in a January 2011 tree study commissioned by the Nashville Town Council. The Nashville Tree Board recommended which 10 would be the highest priority for removal this year.

All the trees on the list are in the public right-of-way.

The trees and the order in which they will be cut down are:

June 4: 256 W. Gould (two dead trees)

June 4: Locust, 51 N. Johnson/61 Molly’s Lane

June 5: Locust, 196 W. Franklin

June 5 and 6: Maple, 195 W. Gould

June 6: Ash, 190 N. Jefferson

June 7: Maple, 212 W. Main

June 11: Maple, 96 W. Gould

June 12: Maple, 10 N. Jefferson

Two more trees, a white pine at 36 W. Franklin and a sycamore at 102 N. Van Buren, will be taken down after the work on the other trees is finished.

The tree board plans to plant 10 new, large-species trees this fall on public and private property in town. To request a tree on your land, contact the Town of Nashville by letter or phone. Private property owners will get a visit from the tree board and recommendations on placement and species.
