PHOTO GALLERY: BCHS Veterans Day Program 2011

Brown County High School's annual Veterans Day program took place Friday, Nov. 11 in the Larry C. Banks Memorial Gymnasium.

The event included guest speakers Michael O'Hara and author Steven Simms, performances from Brown County High School choir band and flag corps, military tributes from students Angela Fox and Jordan Rowland, and the announcement of "Voice of Democracy" essay contest winners.

Brown County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6195 Commander Larry Kuhn presented contest winner Rose Guingrich with first place, Sarah Kurdziel with second and Emily Brady with third. During the program, Guingrich read her broadcast script that centered around the theme, "Is there Pride in Serving in Our Military?" The piece will go on to compete in regional competition, and, if successful, at the national level.

The event was preceded by a Veterans Social Hour, provided by the Salvation Army. The Vietnam Veterans provided a luncheon after the ceremony at Veterans Hall.
