Sealed proposals will be received by the Brown County Commissioners at the County Office Building, 201 North Locust Lane, Nashville, Indiana 47448.  Bids will be accepted until 10:00 AM (local time), on Noveber 16, 2011.  Bids will be opened at the November 16th, 2011 Brown County Commissioners’ Meeting at 7:00 PM and then will be publicly read aloud.  Any bids received later than the above time will be returned unopened.

 

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:  Work for which proposals are to be received is for construction of the Salt Creek Trail - DNR Phase.  This project involves construction of a 10’ asphalt trail, a pre-fabricated pedestrian truss bridge, abutments and associated landscaping improvements.

 

BID DOCUMENTS:  Copies of the Specifications and Contract Documents may be obtained at the office of Butler, Fairman and Seufert, 8450 Westfield Boulevard, Indianapolis, Indiana  46240.  Copies of the documents are available for examining at the Brown County Administrator’s office of Michael Thompson, 201 North Locust Lane, Nashville, Indiana 47448, the Brown County Library, 205 Locust Lane, Nashville, IN 47448, Indianapolis ISQFT Plan Room, 9901 Allisonville Road, Fishers, IN  46038; BXIndiana Construction League, 1200 South Madison Avenue, Suite Lower Level 20, Indianapolis, Indiana; and the office of Butler, Fairman and Seufert, 8450 Westfield Boulevard, Suite 300, Indianapolis, Indiana  46240.  Copies may be obtained at the office of the Engineer by remitting $125.00 for each set.  This remittance is not refundable.  Payment shall be by money order or check and shall be made payable to Butler, Fairman and Seufert, Inc.

 

Bids shall be properly and completely executed on Bid Forms and in the order as identified and contained in the Contract Documents obtainable from the offices as stated above.  Each bid shall be accompanied by a completely filled out Form No. 96 (Revised 2009) and acceptable Bid Security.  Any bid not accompanied by the above-required items shall be deemed to be a non-responsive bid.

 

A Pre-Bid conference will be held at the Brown County Commissioners’ offices at 201 North Locust Lane, Nashville, Indiana 47448 starting at 10 AM (local time) on November 10, 2011.

 

The work will be completed and ready for final payment within 252 calendar days from the date when the Contract Time starts.

 

No Bidder may withdraw his proposal within a period of 60 days following the date set for the receiving of bids.  The Owner reserves the right to retain any and all bids for a period of not more than 60 days and said bid shall remain in full force and effect during said time.  The Owner further reserves the right to waive informalities and to award the Contract to any Bidder all to the advantage of the Salt Creek Trail Committee or to reject all bids.

 

BID SECURITY:  Each bid shall be accompanied by an acceptable certified check made payable to Brown County Commissioners or an acceptable bid bond in the amount equal to 10% of the total bid price executed by an incorporated surety company in good standing and qualified to do business in the State of Indiana and whose name appears on the current Treasury Department Circular 570.
