Letter: Suggestion for a way to vet future candidates

To the editor:

I see that my letter of a few weeks ago did had some other responses on the topic, as well. I was just asking that Republican leadership take a position on the Republican Facebook page dealing with people of color.

The two letters I would identify were from Blake and Ben/Jenni. I think, from those letters, we could now say there are two positions. As we go forward with more elections, I think we should ask that candidates take a position on this: supporting Blake’s viewpoint or Ben/Jenni’s viewpoint. That seems like a fair question to me.

I’d suggest that voters look at the candidates that way, too. We all could then vote to support either position — or, if the GOP candidate would not take a position, then a voter could vote Democrat.

That seems like a pretty clear way to cut through a lot of political speech, doesn’t it? People are always looking for clear choices in voting. Isn’t this one of those?
