Janell (Miller) Baker, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at her home in Morgantown.
Janell was born July 25, 1938, in Harlan, Kentucky to her parents, the late Ulysses and Rebecca (Longmire) Miller. She married Eugene Baker on October 18, 1953 in Pennington Gap, Virginia. He lovingly survives after 67 devoted years of marriage.
Janell was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She loved reading her bible, praying and going to church at the Way of Holiness in Morgantown. She was an educator at church and taught children ages K-12, for over 27 years. Janell loved to sing and would share her gift of song with friends and family. Her favorite songs to sing were: “Now I Have Everything” and “I’m So Glad He Found Me.” Throughout the years, Janell served in several mission trips to Guatemala, spreading God’s Word. She will be remembered most for her love of family and her unyielding faith in God.
She will be missed by her husband, Eugene Baker Sr. of Morgantown, children: Eugene (Charlene) Baker Jr. of Morgantown, Ronald (Emma) Baker of Martinsville and Kimberly (Randall) Sizemore of Morgantown; grandchildren: Jeremy (Stacie) Baker, Jennifer (Dale) Sizemore, Ada (Jarrod) Thompson, Amanda (Chris) King, Nathaniel (Alicia) Baker, Benjamin (Naomi) Baker, Joseph (Britteny) Baker, Jessie (Morgan) Baker, Phillip (Kenzie) Baker, Sarah (Brian) McKelvy, Ronnie (Jessica) Baker, Hannah (Stephen) Wright, Jonathan (Jerusah) Sizemore, Ryan (Leah) Sizemore, Darla (Andrew) Embrey, Janna (Malachi) Henson, Kayla (Bradley) Wright, and Trevor (Jalyn) Sizemore; 53 great grandchildren with one on the way and 5 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; siblings: Debbie (Jerry) Nation of Sidney, Ohio, Victor Miller of Piqua, Ohio, Patty (Steve) Mason of Troy, Ohio, Gary (Joyce) Miller of Staunton, Virginia and Kenneth (Gwen) Miller of Tip City, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Susan Baker.
Pastor Randall Sizemore will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Way of Holiness: 145 Hurdle Road in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow at Merriman Cemetery in Brown County.
