Clayton G Pruitt, 97, of Greensburg, Indiana, moved to his heavenly home on Nov. 20, 2020.

Clayton, a U.S. Army World War II veteran, was born on Sept. 21,1923, in Brown County to Allen and Ethel Gates Pruitt.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Opal Dale Pruitt, and a brother Merrill Dale Pruitt. Also preceding Clayton in death are nieces and a nephew, Kay Ellen Pruitt Perkins, Linda Dale Diewert, Donna Poole, and Gerald Poole.

Clayton is survived by one brother, Ralph W Pruitt of Columbus. Surviving nieces and nephews are Terrill (Paula) Pruitt of Peru, IN, Sheryl (Rick) Chatham of Columbus, Janice (Harody) Mendez of Fort Thomas, KY, Betty Ann Dale Seever of Franklin, Bonnie Sue Irby of Yorktown, Claude Dale Jr of Hanover, Patty Wallen of Santa Barbara, CA, Ronnie (Judy) Dale of Santa Barbara, CA, and Thomas (Rita) Dale of Hamilton, IL.

Clayton’s close friends and faithful helpers Bob and Sherry Stout and Earl Wright were invaluable in later years.

After retiring from Cummins Engine Company in 1981, Clayton continued his beautiful flower garden and traveled with his wife, spending some winters in Arizona. In younger years, Clayton was a go-kart enthusiast. He built and raced go-karts making lots of younger friends. He was a devoted husband and a wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephews who looked forward to visits to his house.

The funeral service will be held at the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 30, at 1:00 pm with the Rev Gordon Tilley officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana.

Due to the new mandate issued by the Governor, visitors are required to wear face masks and maintain social distancing. We encourage you to share your support with the family, being cognizant that others wish to do the same.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Wesleyan Church in Columbus or to your choice of charities.
