BELMONT — A Nashville man and woman were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries from a crash on July 3 on State Road 46 after the woman collided with a deer while riding her motorcycle.

According to a Brown County Sheriff’s accident report by Deputy Nicholson Briles, Todd and Amanda Grider, both 39, were both riding motorcycles east on State Road 46 near Summers Place Trail just after midnight.

Amanda reported seeing a deer run into the road and told officers she tried to swerve out of its way, but hit it. She was ejected from the motorcycle and the 2006 Harley Davidson XL8 slid along the road, where Todd was following directly behind her.

Todd told officers that he was unable to avoid hitting Amanda’s motorcycle, lost control and was launched from his 2013 Harley FLH.

A driver in front of Amanda and Todd saw the collisions in his rearview mirror. He slowed down and helped the two get their vehicles off the road, according to the report.

Officers reported that Todd had scrapes on his left arm and was bleeding from his arm and head. Amanda had minor bleeding from her knuckles. She also said she had pain in her arm and had difficulty moving her fingers, according to the report.

The two were not wearing helmets. They were taken to a hospital for treatment and their motorcycles were towed to Brown County Tire without further incident, the police report said.
