Two Nashville residents were killed in a crash this morning after the car they were riding in hit a parked trash truck on State Road 46 East.

Alexander Watson, 19, and Alexis Avery, 21, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release from the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

Coroner Earl Piper said both passengers died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries. The two were not wearing seat belts. Watson was the front seat passenger and Avery was in the backseat, according to the sheriff’s department.

Piper ruled the deaths accidental.

The driver of the vehicle, Tammy Watson, 51, also of Nashville, was flown by a medical helicopter to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for further treatment.

The extent of her injuries are not known at this time.

A 911 caller reported the crash just after 9 a.m. near the intersection of State Road 135 South, according to dispatch traffic.

Officers reported that Tammy Watson was driving a Chevrolet Impala westbound on 46 East when she struck a trash truck that was parked on the north side of the road getting ready to load trash, the release states.
