» On Friday, July 5, the Lake Lemon Conservancy District will host its fireworks show at dusk at Riddle Point Park, 7599 North Tunnel Road, Unionville. The cost is $10 per vehicle.

The beach and beach parking lot will need to be cleared at about 4 p.m. because it is a fallout zone for fireworks, but the rest of the park will be open.

The rain date for that show is Saturday, July 6.

» On Saturday, July 6, fireworks will go off at the Cordry-Sweetwater Beach, off Sunset Drive. The event is hosted by the Cordry Sweetwater Lot Owners Association and is free to the public.

Fireworks will begin at dusk. Beginning at 2 p.m., the association will sell hot dogs, hamburgers and cold drinks. Glow necklaces and other merchandise will also be available for purchase.

The rain date for that show is Sunday, July 7. Donations will be accepted so that the association can provide future events for the community.

» If you’re thinking of setting off your own fireworks, know that fireworks in Nashville are legal only on June 29 and 30, and July 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 9 between 5 p.m. and two hours after sunset; July 4 between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m.; and on New Year’s Eve.

Areas outside town limits are not covered by this ordinance, but they are governed by state law. State law says fireworks can be discharged from 9 a.m. to midnight July 4, Memorial Day, Labor Day and New Year’s Eve, and from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. any other day of the year. They must be set off on your own property or on a property of someone who has granted permission.

Any child using fireworks must do so in the presence of an adult.
