Fred Eugene Taylor, 90, of Nashville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019 at his residence.

Born Feb. 5, 1928 in Nashville, he was the son of Fred Franklin and Tressa Elsie (Bond) Taylor. Fred was a retired rural mail carrier. He grew up in the Nashville Christian Church. He was a member of the Garden City Church of Christ in Columbus. A U.S. Marine Korean War veteran, Fred was a member of the American Legion where he served as adjutant. He was also a 50-year member of the Brown County Volunteer Fire Dept., including a term as the fire chief.

Fred is survived by his loving family; his wife, Betty Lou (Robertson) Taylor; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret (Michael) Bennett of Omaha, Nebraska and Nancy (Andy) Barrow of Bloomington; a daughter-in-law, Terry Taylor of Pittsburgh, Kansas; six grandchildren, Carrie (Steve) Rains, Carla (Earl) Della Barca, Isaac Barrow, Luke Barrow, Rachel Taylor and Jessica Taylor; five great-grandchildren, Miles Bedora, Clara Bedora, Luca Della Barca, Xavier Brown and Olive Thomson; and many other beloved family members.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Roy “Sonny” Taylor; three brothers, Harold (Margie) Taylor, Maurice (Robina) Taylor and Jim (Rosetta) Taylor; and a granddaughter, Crystal Bennett.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North, with Michael Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Brown County Memorial Park Cemetery where military honors will be provided. Friends may visit the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25 and from 1 to 2 p.m. Jan. 26 at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Garden City Church of Christ, 3245 Jonesville Road, Columbus, IN 47201.
