Letter: Chocolate Walk organizers thank volunteers, walkers

To the editor:

The Brown County Humane Society annual Chocolate Walk held Saturday, Nov. 10 was again a roaring success. A sincere thank-you to Brown County and the Town of Nashville for the warm welcome on a chilly Saturday.

Thirty-two shops, galleries and restaurants generously created 40,000 treats for our stalwart walkers. We applaud their time, energy and creative abilities in support of this event. Spirits were high and participants, new and returning, enjoyed strolling the streets in support of our shelter animals.

We also thank our 80-plus volunteers for their level of commitment and tireless work for the homeless animals of Brown County.

The volunteers, in turn, thank Cheryl and Ron Ferguson and daughter, Wendi, of Our Sandwich Place for generously providing hot chocolate to all the volunteers in need of a delicious warming treat.

A sincere thank-you also goes to the following sponsors for their generous support of this important fundraiser: A&R Storage, Brown County Inn, Curry Auto Center, Hills O’Brown Vacation Rentals, J.B. Goods, Jones Law Office, Nashville Spice Company, New Leaf, RE/MAX, Seward Party Rental, A Stone’s Throw, and media sponsor WKKG 101.5.

We would also like to thank the Brown County Art Gallery for again allowing us to kick off our event in their beautiful gallery.

Stars of this event: Mondo, who found his forever home.

And lastly, we are pleased to announce the winners of the People’s Choice Awards:

TASTE: Sweetea’s

CREATIVITY: The Emerald Pencil

PRESENTATION: Touch of Silver, Gold and Old

Congratulations and thank you to the above shops for their outstanding efforts.

Next year’s Chocolate Walk will be Nov. 9, 2019. Mark your calendars and join us!
