SCHOOL NEWS: Staff changes, leave requests

The Brown County School Board of Trustees approved the following on Sept. 20 and Oct. 4:

  • Changing the adult meal price to $3.55. The price change was recommended according to the required United States Department of Agriculture calculation tool.
  • Correcting the rate of pay for Darrin Platter from $86 to $91 per day, retroactive to Sept. 4.
  • A maternity leave for Holly Gordon beginning approximately Oct. 15 and returning approximately Jan. 7, 2019.
  • A request for Matthew Finley to attend the Midwest Clinic — International Band and Orchestra conference in Chicago, Dec. 19 to 22.
  • A request for Brown County Intermediate School sixth-graders to travel to Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville May 17, 2019.
  • Terminating the current contract on bus route 30, effective Aug. 24. The school district will take over this route.
  • The memorandum of understanding between the Brown County Sheriff’s Department and Brown County Schools for the school resource officer.
  • Declaring outdated and damaged equipment as salvage from the Brown County Career Resource Center.
  • Accepting a $1,250 donation from the ARC-Brown County Chamber to pay for five Brown County High School teachers to attend Focus on the Inclusion conference in March 2019.
  • A request for Hillary Frye, Teresa Hendey and Lauren Spiece to chaperone the BCHS Spanish field trip to Chicago Nov. 16 and 17.
  • Separating Brown County Schools food service employee Angie Arnold, effective Sept. 14. This was not a termination.
  • Separating Brown County Junior High School head wrestling coach Jason Vaught, effective Sept. 21. This was not a termination.
  • Appointing BCS night custodian Shaune Denson, full time with benefits, $11.25 per hour, 260 days per year, eight hours per day, effective Sept. 26. He is a replacement for Carla Brown.
  • Appointing BCJHS Robotics Team coach Kaitlyn Christie, $684 stipend. She is a replacement for Dan Lewellen.
