Two crashes were reported on State Road 135 North after a woman lost control of her motorcycle while stopping for a traffic backup from another crash.

The first crash was reported just before 4 p.m. Sept. 7 near Orchard Hill Lane. It involved a single vehicle driven by Kaitlyn Pearson, 19, of Brown County. She told police she was driving south on 135 North when she lost control on the wet pavement, an accident report by Lt. Mike Moore with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department states. The Democrat received a copy of the accident report on Sept. 19.

Pearson’s vehicle left the road, hit and went over a guardrail before going down an embankment and hitting a tree, the report states.

She was checked out at the scene by EMS for an abrasion to her face and some minor pain. Her vehicle was towed. She was wearing a seat belt.

While traffic was restricted due to that crash, Deputy William Pool witnessed a motorcycle crash in the 2400 block of 135 North, an additional report by Moore states.

Pool said the motorcycle was traveling north in the curve south of the crash when the driver attempted to slow, but the motorcycle’s rear tire started to slide.

The driver, Kelsey Forker, 32, of Fort Wayne, then lost control and the motorcycle went down on the pavement. Forker was ejected and hit her head on the pavement. She was not wearing a helmet, according to the report.

Her parents were riding behind her and witnessed the crash, the report said.

Forker was taken by ambulance to a hospital for her head injury.
