Man arrested after fight with relative

TREVLAC — A Brown County man was arrested on Sept. 8 after police say he grabbed a relative, held him to a chair and threatened to kill him twice.

According to a report by Sgt. Bill Southerland, police were called to a possible fight in the 4600 block of State Road 45 just after 9 p.m. The caller reported that a man was returning to his home and that there was going to be a fight. The two people involved were reportedly intoxicated.

Southerland and Deputy Josh Stargell were met in the driveway by the victim, who stated Jeremiah Fox, 38, had been difficult to get along with for several days and tonight it was worse. He said that Fox had grabbed him by his arms, held him to a chair and yelled threats at him including that he was going to kill him, the police report said. Southerland reported seeing no visible injuries on the victim.

The man said that he was talking to another person on the phone when Fox threatened to kill him a second time. Southerland spoke with that person who confirmed that story.

Southerland reported smelling alcohol on both Fox and the victim.

While being arrested, Fox reportedly continued to argue with the victim. He was taken to the Brown County jail. On Sept. 10, he was charged with domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

Traffic stop results in man’s arrest

A Sellersburg man was arrested and later charged with misdemeanors in Brown County after he was stopped by police on Sept. 9 while driving under the influence of alcohol.

Nashville Police Officer William Pruitt conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Roger McDonald Jr., 41, just before 1:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of State Road 135, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Pruitt reported smelling alcohol on McDonald, that his speech was slurred and his manual dexterity was poor. He also reported that McDonald couldn’t open his door, that he had to pull himself from the vehicle and that he staggered from the vehicle.

A breath test showed his blood-alcohol content to be 0.14, almost twice the legal limit of 0.08. A chemical test administered at the Brown County jail less than an hour after the stop showed McDonald’s BAC to be 0.16.

He was charged on Sept. 10 with two Class A and one Class C misdemeanors for driving while intoxicated.

Driver charged after accident

Police allege that a Shelbyville man drove drunk and crashed on State Road 135 North in Brown County.

Michael E. Dean was charged Aug. 31 with operating a vehicle while intoxicated — endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.

Lt. Mike Moore with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash on Aug. 28 in the 3600 block of 135 North just before 6 p.m. Two callers had reported a reckless driver west of Nashville on State Road 46 driving left of center.

Moore reported that Dean’s pupils were constricted and that his manual dexterity and balance were impaired.

He submitted to a chemical test after being arrested. The results are pending, according to the affidavit.

Man faces charge for paraphernalia

A Mooresville man was charged with two misdemeanors in Brown County after police stopped him for driving with a suspended license and discovered drug paraphernalia on him.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Eggebrecht saw 28-year-old Austin Beliles driving on State Road 135 North on Aug. 25. He searched Indiana Department of Motor Vehicles records and discovered that Beliles’ license was suspended, his report said.

Beliles was arrested on a warrant out of Morgan County. During a search conducted by Nashville Police Officer Jake Hollingsworth, police reported finding a smoking pipe in Beliles’ possession.

He was charged with driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, on Aug. 31.

Plate problem results in arrest

A Brown County man was arrested on a failure to appear warrant after an Indiana State Police trooper stopped a vehicle he was driving for having a license plate that belonged to a different vehicle.

Trooper Matthew Hatchett stopped Robert Remboske, 38, on Aug. 13 after he reported seeing him turn onto State Road 46 East from Nelson Ridge Road. Hatchett checked the vehicle’s registration and discovered the license plate belonged to a different vehicle, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Sept. 6.

He stopped the vehicle east of Hoover Road. Remboske told Hatchett that his license was suspended.

After agreeing to let Hatchett pat him down for weapons, Hatchett reported finding a metal smoking device containing marijuana in Remboske’s possession, the affidavit states.

Hatchett then discovered that Remboske had a warrant for failure to appear in Brown County. He was arrested and taken to the Brown County jail. His vehicle was impounded.

He was charged Sept. 6 with possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
