Letter: Volunteers made road cleanup possible

To the editor:

Keep Brown County Beautiful wants to thank all of the volunteers from Cummins that helped make our first big cleanup a huge success. The Keep Brown County Beautiful organization was instrumental in the conception and planning of this event. We made sure this event was put into play with the 80-plus individuals it took to make it happen. Thanks to Roinish Guptu, Ansh Pandey and Connie Coy of Cummins for helping us bring the event together by planning with us to make this happen without a hitch.

Keep Brown County Beautiful is working in the county to do everything we can to make a difference in cleaning up, beautifying and educating about litter. This event was the biggest one-time event we have organized. I want to thank Phil Stephens, our board member, for all of his pre-planning and coordination. Phil and I worked together on this for many hours prior to the work day to bring this event together. Phil and I want to thank our board members, Marilyn Feiock, Mark Shields, Allison Shoaf, Mary Ann Cline and Jeanne Lager for their help as well.

Reserve deputy and our board member, Keith Baker, and deputy Art Clark were there all day doing traffic control that kept our workers safe and traffic moving smoothly.

Thank you to Reed’s Septic and Excavating for their donation, as well as to Knights Trash Removal, T&T Tire and Technology Recyclers. Phil Stephens, director of Brown County Solid Waste, made sure all tires and TVs were recycled in the correct facilities.

Working to keep our roads clean and beautify our county is hard, unending work. The events like the Green Road cleanup are an important part of showing the community Keep Brown County Beautiful is out there working to make a difference.

Partners like Cummins are crucial to our success. When we all pitch in, we can accomplish so much more.

If you have questions about KBCB or would be interested in being considered for our board, or are interested in the Adopt A Road program, call Cathy Paradise at 812-327-9617.
