Frances ‘Maxine’ Snyder

Frances “Maxine” Snyder, 88, of Columbus, died Monday evening, April 9, 2018, at Our Hospice in Columbus.

The Rev. Patrick Gallagher will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday, April 13 at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1682 State Road 135 North in Nashville. Burial will follow in Brown County Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends can visit the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born Sept. 28, 1929, in Brown County, Maxine was the daughter of Roy and Katherine (Sturgeon) Harden. She loved family gatherings and especially spending time with her granddaughter, Kim and her great-grandchildren, Mason and Chloe. She was a former member of the White Creek Lutheran Ladies Aid and St. John’s White Creek Lutheran Church. She loved reading, being outdoors and going for walks in the woods as well as playing euchre.

Maxine is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Sondra (Wendell) Deckard; her son, Roger (Margaret Luckey) Snyder; her granddaughter, Kim (Ian) Package; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Chloe Package, all of Columbus; a sister, Connie Bridenburg of Bean Blossom; two brothers, Jim Harden of Brown County and Bob (Paulette) Harden of Columbus; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her cat, Tilley.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Snyder in 1985; four sisters, Helen Allender, Ivy Brown, Dorothy Brown and Kathy Cunningham; and a brother, Harold Harden.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or to the Brown County Humane Society.
