SPEARSVILLE — Two people had to be flown from a crash scene on Peoga Road March 15.

The crash happened at about 4:40 p.m. near the intersection of Gold Point and Peoga roads, according to an accident report by Lt. Mike Moore with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department.

Moore wrote that the 2006 Mercury Montego car was overturned in a ditch in the 3300 block of Peoga Road when he arrived. Sgt. Bill Southerland was already on scene and reported hearing the driver, Scott A. Groves, 48, of Vincennes, tell a passenger that she was the driver and he was a passenger.

The owner of the car, who was sitting in the backseat, told Moore that Groves had been driving. The other passenger confirmed that.

Groves then admitted he had been driving and that he had had a seizure, which caused him to lose control. He told police that he does not have a driver’s license.

The backseat passenger was flown from the scene for a compound left leg fracture. The front seat passenger was taken to a hospital by a second medical helicopter for head, face and wrist injuries, according to the report.

Later at the scene, Groves said that his chest was hurting, but he refused to be transported to the emergency room, the report states.

The vehicle was towed. It was noted in the report that the backseat passenger was not wearing a seat belt.

Groves was cited for driving a vehicle without a license.

The Hamblen Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
