FRUITDALE — A Hornettown Road man has been charged after a relative said he grabbed and shoved her, then prevented her from leaving home.

On Feb. 8, county and state police officers responded to a home in the 1300 block of Hornettown Road. Deputy Austin Schonfeld’s report said that the woman who was battered walked to a relative’s house after the incident.

Before walking over, she had called the relative to say that Anthony Callon, 37, would not let her leave her home, but he ended up walking with her to the relative’s home.

The woman told police she was sleeping in her room when Callon came in and asked for a phone. When she told him he couldn’t have it, he started grabbing her things and tearing them up, the report said.

She said that Callon then went through her purse and took a phone charger. She got out of bed and tried to get him out of her room, the report said. The woman said that Callon then grabbed her and started shoving her around the room. She said when she attempted to leave, he would not let her, then he followed her to the relative’s home, shoving her the entire time, the report said.

Schonfeld reported seeing bruises on the woman’s forearms, but they did not appear to be fresh. She said the bruises came from Callon grabbing her before she left the house. Schonfeld also reported seeing some fresh blood on the woman’s left forearm, but that she did not have any open wounds and didn’t know where the blood had come from.

Police found Callon getting out of the passenger seat in a vehicle in the woman’s driveway. He told police he had gone into the woman’s room to get the phone before taking a shower, but that he did not go through her purse. Callon also said he did not touch the woman, but he did follow her to use that relative’s phone.

Callon said he did not know how the woman got bruises on her arms. He told police she had woken up at some point with a black eye. Schonfeld reported seeing a small cut on Callon’s right hand; he told the officer he was injured while cutting wood.

Sgt. Scott Bowling entered the home and reported seeing nothing out of the ordinary and that nothing was torn up or broken, the report said.

Callon agreed to leave the home for the night. He was charged March 6 with battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.
