Club news for week of March 14

Photography club

A photo share of members’ work and a lesson, “How to Critique Photography” was to be on the agenda for the Brown County Photography Club on Tuesday, March 13. The club meets at the Brown County Public Library from 7 to 9 p.m. in lower-level meeting room B.

Club membership is open to anyone interested in photography.

Cemetery society

The Brown County Cemetery Preservation Society, a committee of the Peaceful Valley Heritage group, meets at 1 p.m. and again at 4:15 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month in the archives room at the Brown County History Center, 90 E. Gould St. The next meeting was to be March 13. The public is welcome at all events.

Preservation group

Meetings for the preservation group Peaceful Valley Heritage Inc. are conducted at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Howard F. Hughes Community Building, 209 N. Van Buren St. The next meeting was to be March 13.

Rotary Club

Attorney Tracey Yeager Stogsdill will discuss Indiana’s Title IV-D Child Support Program when the Brown County Rotary Club meets for breakfast Thursday, March 15 at the Artists Colony Inn downtown. The meeting starts at 7:15 a.m. at the inn, 105 S. Van Buren St.

Stogsdill has the perspective of both Brown County deputy prosecutor and 29 years of practice in family law, divorce, child custody, child support, adoptions, guardianships and other areas. Title IV-D is a federal program carried out locally by county prosecutors, county clerks and county courts with support from public service organizations.

Members of the community are invited to attend, especially those interested in exploring opportunities to be of service.

Nashville Literary Club

The Nashville Literary Club will hold its first meeting of 2018 at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 15 at Willow Manor.

Carolyn Emmett will lead a discussion of “ Little Bee” by Chris Cleve.

Weight-loss group

COLUMBUS — National nonprofit weight-loss group Take Off Pounds Sensibly, also known as TOPS, meets in the MainSource Bank meeting room, 2310 W. Jonathan Moore Pike. Monday meetings begin with weigh-ins at 10:30 a.m. followed by the meeting at 11:30 a.m.

The Writers, Readers and Poets Society meets from 7 to 9 p.m. first and third Thursdays each month to read and discuss the literary compositions of those present. The next meeting will be March 15 at the Brown County Public Library, 205 N. Locust Lane. All are welcome.

Herb society

The Brown County Herb Society meets at 6:30 p.m the third Monday of each month in a lower-level meeting room at Brown County Public Library.

Stevia, an herbal calorie-free sweetener, will be the topic at the next meeting, March 19. The public is welcome.
