The driver who crashed on State Road 135 North near Grandma Barnes Road the morning of Feb. 24 has been charged with drunken driving.

The driver, Hubert J. Ball, 69, of Hassetown Road, admitted to driving, and Brown County sheriff’s deputy William Pool reported that he could smell alcohol on him.

Pool also reported that Ball’s speech was slurred, his eyes were red/watery, his manual dexterity was poor and his balance was unsteady, and that Ball staggered from the vehicle and leaned against it during the stop.

Ball submitted to a chemical test, but the results are pending, the report said.

He was charged with two misdemeanors for operating a vehicle while intoxicated on Feb. 26.
