VAN BUREN TWP. — A Nashville man has been charged with a felony for physically fighting with a woman outside a home on Whitehorse Road.

Kyle D. Irwin, 26, was charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury Feb. 20.

The woman told Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Colton Magner that Irwin shoved her to the ground and punched her in the face before attempting to strangle her.

Magner reported that the woman’s injuries were consistent with being shoved to the ground and having physical contact to the face, but did not indicate at the time that she had been strangled, the affidavit states.

Irwin said the physical altercation began when he was walking away from the woman and she grabbed him on the back of the neck before he shoved her away and ran inside.

An infant child was inside the home during the fight, the affidavit said.

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment for her injuries on her request.

A witness told police he was only able to see the woman move quickly toward Irwin while they were arguing outside; he was unable to see anything else due to low light, the affidavit said.
