HAMBLEN TWP. — An Indianapolis man has been charged with auto theft after a relative called police about a truck he had parked at her Brown County property.

The woman reported on Dec. 19, 2017 that Adrian Loveday, 41, had dropped a “nice truck” off at her house and left, and that she had a suspicion that it may be stolen.

Another relative met police at the property on Webber Hill Road. Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Schonfeld reported finding a black Dodge pickup parked behind the barn with the license plate removed. Loveday’s story for his relatives was that he had bought the truck for $200 and was going to make payments, the police report said.

Schonfeld ran the numbers on the license plate, which he found on a bench on the porch, and found it was stolen out of Johnson County, his report said. Window stickers had been removed, and only one of the four tires reported to be in the bed of the truck was still there, Schonfeld wrote.

Loveday was on work release in Johnson County at the time, the police report said.

He was charged in Brown Circuit Court on Feb. 12 with auto theft, a Level 6 felony.
