CORDRY-SWEETWATER — A Morgantown man was arrested Jan. 26 in connection with a report of a person trying to sell stolen all-terrain vehicles.

Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Randy Taggart reported in a probable cause affidavit that he saw a green Jeep Cherokee parked at a home in the 8100 block of Bass Court with a trailer hooked on it. On the trailer was a yellow ATV.

A couple of weeks prior, it was reported to police that a person driving the Jeep was trying to sell stolen ATVs. The owner of the vehicle was related to Raymond Lebo, 47, and Lebo had been reported as the one driving the Jeep a few weeks prior.

Taggart checked Lebo’s driver’s license and found it was suspended. He also had a warrant out of Johnson County, the report said.

Lt. Mike Moore and Taggart found Lebo standing in the yard. He told the officers his first name before beginning to hyperventilate and kneel on the ground, the affidavit states.

Taggart reported seeing a glass pipe in his pocket, and as he was reaching for it, Lebo covered it with his hand and threw it to the side. Lebo struggled with Moore and Taggart as they took him to the ground to handcuff him, according to the affidavit.

Lebo was checked out by EMS before being transported to the Brown County jail. EMS personnel reported that he had no medical problems and he signed a release.

Moore and Taggart returned to the home and found the pipe Lebo had thrown next to a tree.

He was charged Jan. 29 with resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
